Dear [Name of Landowner],

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Rick Bolin and I am a member of OKC Rocketry, a group of enthusiasts who are passionate about amateur rockets. I am writing to inquire about the possibility of using your land at [address] for rocket launches. The area we are interested in is located [a brief description of land location] . I’ve included an areal map for your reference.

Please allow me to tell you a little bit about our organization.

OKC Rocketry is dedicated to promoting the science and engineering of rocketry, as well as providing a safe and fun environment for individuals of all ages and skill levels to explore their interest in rockets. We are one of 200 fully recognized chapters of the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) which has over 8000 members around the country. Our local club has been flying rockets together since our founding in 2008. Our website is OKCRocketry.com. I invite you to please take a look at our site and learn a little more about us. If you would like to learn more about NAR and it’s mission their website is www.nar.org.

Club members have the opportunity to participate in monthly meetings where we discuss the latest developments in amateur rocketry, share rocket building tips and techniques, and plan upcoming launches. We also host regular events where members can launch their own rockets and witness the results of their hard work. In addition to these activities, we also provide educational resources and support for those interested in learning more about rocketry and related fields.

We are reaching out to you because our club is in need of a new local launch site. We hope to host launch events from 6 to 12 times a year. These events involve launching small, homemade rockets into the sky with commercially produced rocket motors widely available in retail stores like Hobby Lobby. We take all necessary safety precautions, have obtained all necessary permits from the relevant authorities, and have fire suppression and other safety equipment on hand throughout the event. Launches are supervised by experienced rocket flyers and we make every effort possible to ensure that the land we use is returned to its original condition after our events. In the unlikely event something unexpected should happen, we are covered by a $5 million insurance policy. Please see the attached proof of insurance letter showing our coverage.

We understand that allowing us to use your land would be a privilege. Our launch schedule is flexible and we would work with you to avoid disrupting your farming/ranching operations. We would be happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have and even do a small demonstration launch so you can see for yourself how we operate. We would be grateful for your support in this matter.

On behalf of OKC Rocketry, thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Rick Bolin,
